Nepal 2024

Since 2017, I have been traveling regularly to Nepal, and over the years, I have consistently aimed to develop myself and take on new challenges. This year was no exception: alongside a demanding trekking tour, I also engaged in numerous training sessions and organized a special table tennis tournament.

A highlight of my trip this year was organizing the first AVM Youth Championship for the U15 and U19 categories. With this tournament, we managed to set a milestone for youth table tennis in Nepal. A total of 87 young players from various clubs participated, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

Particularly gratifying was the provision of a separate training hall next to the main hall. This allowed players to warm up and prepare optimally before their matches—a first in Nepali table tennis that was greatly appreciated by both players and coaches.

Planning and organizing the tournament required intensive preparation in advance. In various training sessions with different groups, I worked alongside local coaches to prepare the youth for the tournament. The goal was to enhance not only their technical skills but also their mental strength. The highlight of the tournament was the award ceremony, where the best players were honored and proudly received their prizes.

In addition to the sporting aspect, this year's trip was also marked by a challenging trekking tour. In just six days, we tackled a strenuous route to the Kang La Pass, which stands at an impressive 5,320 meters. The ascent began at 4,220 meters at five in the morning and led us to the highest point of the trek after six hours. The entire hike concluded after eleven hours at 3,660 meters. During this time, we encountered not a single soul—a peaceful yet striking experience in the untouched nature of Nepal.

The 2024 trip to Nepal was a complete success both in sporting and personal terms. Organizing the first AVM Youth Championship and the intensive training sessions were invaluable experiences, while the trek to the Kang La Pass posed an unforgettable physical challenge. This journey once again demonstrated to me that with determination and continuous effort, one can always progress—step by step.
